Project Description
Instituto Tecnológico de Informática (ITI) is a private Research & Technology organization located in Valencia, Spain. ITI is specialized in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), producing innovative solutions to address societal and economic challenges, contributing to the improvement of industrial competitiveness, and to create an integrated, sustainable and intelligent society. ITI was established in 1994 by a joint initiative of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises of Valencia (IMPIVA, now IVACE), and a group of companies in the IT sector.
Specifically, ITI contributes to generate solutions in three main application domains: a) Intelligent manufacturing, b) Intelligent society, and c) IT industry. To carry out this mission, it participates in many national and international research projects in these fields, always in collaboration with companies and institutions. The research activity is developed by a team of more than 100 technologists (researchers and technicians), and is organised in four main areas: i) Intelligent Information analysis (Pattern recognition, Context Awareness), ii) Future Internet (Cloud Computing, Software platforms, Interoperability, Smart Networks), iii) Cyber Physical Systems (Embedded Software, Real Time Systems, Mobile devices, Sensors), and iv) Enabling Technologies (Process Optimization, Computer Vision for Manufacturing).
Regarding the ITI’s business ecosystem, ITI has direct link with more than 120 companies, coming mainly from the ICT sector and other industrial sectors with intensive use of ICT. In addition, ITI has close relationships with every relevant actor in ICT sector in Valencian Region, like ICT companies, associations (AVINFO, AVALNET, …), Universities and other Public Research bodies. Moreover, ITI is member of National and European structures and associations related to the definition of research strategies or initiatives in different domains.
