The extended receiver is responsible for interference detection. This device extends the capabilities of a standard 802.15.4 physical layer demodulator, it checks every symbol of a received frame and computes an interference indicator. The mentioned indicator gives a general idea about received frame quality and interference level. The values of the indicator vary from 0 to 1, where higher values suggest that interference to signal/frame ratio is higher, meaning lower link quality. Value of 0 suggests crystal clear communication, while value of 1 indicates that a frame was completely covered by an interference or a jamming signal.
