AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is Austria’s largest contract- oriented, non-profit research organization. Its five strategic departments Digital Safety & Security, Health and Environment, Mobility, Energy, Innovation Systems perform applied research in co-operation with industry, universities on national, European and international level. 2012, AIT had about 1100 employees and a turnover of 98 millions of €. The Digital Safety & Security Department (DSS) makes significant contribution to ICT through concerted effort to guarantee the operational efficiency and reliability of critical systems in the areas of transportation, energy, telecommunications, and public administration. The business unit SQT focuses on dependable wireless communication systems of autonomous vehicles, industry 4.0 production environments and real-time Internet-of-Things applications.
